Damn. Manic, catchy indie punk from Israel, by way of Germany. Sound-wise, this isn’t far off from their label mates Tanning Bats. Shifka Chiefs straddle the spastic post-punk world. But with that in mind, they have much more of their own garage sound. While it’s unpredictable and crazy, I hear a lot of specifically ’60s United States garage fighting its way through. At times, this is even reminiscent of Los Angeles’s Shark Toys. I’m curious to see what other bands this crew have come from.
